Here was the plan:
7:00 AM: Leave the house
9:30 AM: Arrive at the apartment complex
9:45 AM: Receive keys, sign all necessary papers, and pay for the first month’s rent and the $400 pet deposit.
9:50 AM: Begin unloading items into apartment. The air and electricity had been turned on the day before, as had the Internet and TV, so life would be quite comfortable inside.
12:00 PM: Movers arrive, and stuff from the trailer magically appears in its respective rooms
1:00 PM: Movers leave, we leisurely unpack things and put together the Ikea furniture.
There’s dinner somewhere after that, and Mom and Daddy spend the night, then go home.
Simple, right?
But oh, my dear readers, our family is a family in which the unexpected happens.
So, we woke up at seven, and due to a flat tire on the trailer, we left at nine. Got there only to realize the Suddenlink guys forgot to mention that someone had to BE in the apartment first before they would install anything, so no Interwebs or satellite. The movers unloaded everything according to plan, and we toiled late into the night to get all the furniture built. The kitchen is stocked, the TV shows network channels, and the AC works (thank God). I’ve been trying to get in the routine of walking the dogs a few times a day, but it’s hard. At home, all I would do was open the back door. Meh. Though it’s still not done, it’s a great start. And now, to end this lovely entry, I shall sleep in my new queen-sized bed, in my new apartment.
